The DMACC Foundation raised a record $500,000 for student scholarships during the 2024 DMACC CEO Golf Tournament held June 13 at DMACC alum Dennis Albaugh’s Talons of Tuscany Golf Club in Ankeny.
A total of 120 executives, respresenting companies throughout Central Iowa, comprised 30 teams during this year's tournament. Top sponsors included Sheri Horner, Albaugh LLC, Prairie Meadows, Baxter Construction, Wellmark, Accumold and Karl Chevrolet.
"We’re deeply grateful to our generous sponsors, dedicated players and tireless volunteers who made this incredible achievement possible," said Tara Connolly, Executive Director of the DMACC Foundation. "Raising $500,000 for scholarships is a testament to our community's unwavering commitment to changing lives and empowering communities through education at DMACC.
"Scholarships create access to DMACC’s high quality education and training, ultimately creating a brighter future for our students."
The annual DMACC CEO Golf Tournament is the DMACC Foundation’s largest scholarship fundraiser. The tournament has been held at Albaugh’s private golf course, which is located on the grounds of Albaugh LLC's worldwide headquarters in Ankeny, every year since 2007.
“We’ve raised more than $5.5 million for student scholarships since Dennis started hosting this important fundraising event for us in 2007,” said DMACC President Rob Denson. “There is clear evidence that the support this scholarship event provides for students makes a difference in their ability to stay in college and graduate into a better job or to further their education.
“We’re very grateful for Dennis’ generous support, not only with this important golf tournament each year, the many philanthropic contributions he’s made across the College. His impact will be felt for generations to come.”
Denson highlighted Albaugh’s most recent $1 million donation for the new DMACC Transportation Institute, which is currently under construction, as just one example of his support and belief in DMACC.
The DMACC Foundation is currently accepting scholarship applications for the 2024-2025 academic year, which includes the fall 2024, spring 2025 and summer 2025 terms. Students only need to fill out one general application to be considered for a wide variety of scholarships. Based on their completed application, the DMACC Foundation will match each applicant with any scholarships for which they are qualified. The deadline to apply is July 15.
