DMACC is pleased to announce Dr. Allen Goben as the new Executive Campus Dean for the Boone Campus, effective April 15.
Dr. Goben brings a wealth of leadership experience to Iowa’s largest community college, with more than a decade of proven success in higher education administration. He previously served as President at Hazard Community and Technical College in Hazard, Kentucky; Heartland Community College in Normal, Illinois; and Tarrant County College Northeast Campus in Hurst, Texas. Goben received his Doctor of Education from The University of Texas at Austin in 2003 with a dissertation focused on leadership strategies for 21st century American community colleges.
“I've been tremendously impressed with what has happened at DMACC in the last couple of decades," said Dr. Goben. "The organization has really escalated its abilities and become a premier institution.”
Reflecting on Boone Campus's distinct community and athletic identity, Dr. Goben added, "I really appreciate what has been done at DMACC Boone to develop and deliver a fantastic experience for student-athletes, coaches, faculty, staff, and community members."
“I’m excited to join the team and be a part of what's going on, get to know everyone and support the campus needs with a shared vision,” Goben added.
Bill LaTour, DMACC's Vice President of Operations, who oversees all the Executive Campus Deans, said he’s confident Dr. Goben will hit the ground running this year.
"Dr. Goben is a demonstrated leader and will be an excellent addition to the Boone Campus and DMACC overall,” LaTour said. “His extensive experience and deep commitment to higher education will greatly benefit our campus community."
DMACC would also like to recognize BJ McGinn, who has been serving as Interim Executive Campus Dean.
"BJ’s leadership has been very much appreciated, and Boone Campus is fortunate to have a leader like BJ who was willing to step up and take on additional responsibilities when we were in need," LaTour said.
