Human Resource Management

Students in the DMACC Human Resource Management Degree learn skills that are increasingly important for nearly anyone pursuing a career in business. This program is designed to provide a background in human resource functions and law for students majoring in Management, Business Administration, Administrative Assistant and Entrepreneurship among others. It is also beneficial to people employed in business who wish to upgrade their knowledge of human resource procedures.

Management

The DMACC Management Degree program will prepare you with people skills and organizational systems knowledge to succeed and earn promotions in the company or institutional environment of your choice. Experience and leadership skills are gained through on the job training and participation in a local, state and national management development association.

Sales & Management

The DMACC Sales and Management Degree program offers sales and management skill development. Many opportunities exist for the highly motivated, people-oriented, goal-setting individual who wants to quickly move into a sales or management industry-sponsored training program. In addition, the program offers: opportunities to earn as you learn through on-the-job training, opportunities to gain advanced standing with prior occupational experience (after evaluation by the program chairperson), and leadership training at local, state and national levels through involvement in the Sales and Management Club.

Digital Marketing 

Created in consultation with marketing agency leaders, the DMACC Digital Marketing Certificate program gives students the marketing industry knowledge and technical skills they need to tap into this growing field.

Additional Resources

Many Management, Marketing and Fashion students choose to transfer to a four-year college or university after earning their DMACC degrees.

Additionally, students that complete the AAS degrees in any program can take advantage of the following articulation agreements:

Buena Vista University

  • A DMACC student, who earns the AAS degree in Management or Marketing can transfer to Buena Vista University at junior status, provided the student meets all admissions criteria at the university.

Capella University

  • A DMACC student who earns either the​ AAS degree in Management or Marketing may be accepted into the Bachelor of Science in Business program at Capella University. This agreement includes course-to-course transfers from DMACC to Capella.

Iowa State University

  • A DMACC student completing the AAS degree in Fashion can transfer up to 16 vocational credits, along with general education credits, into the Iowa State University College of Human Services Major in Apparel Merchandising, Design, and Production.

Simpson College

  • Simpson offers a course-by-course plan so that a DMACC student completing the AAS in Management can transfer into the Simpson BA in Management program on target to graduate in approximately two years of full-time study. Simpson also offers transfer into its BA in Marketing program for a DMACC student earning an AAS degree in Marketing.

Upper Iowa University

  • A DMACC student earning a degree in an AAS degree in Management is eligible to transfer into the Bachelor of Science Management program at Upper Iowa University. A student earning an AAS degree in Marketing is eligible to transfer into the Bachelor of Science Marketing program at Upper Iowa University.

William Penn University

  • A DMACC student earning a degree in Management or Marketing is eligible to transfer into the Bachelor of Arts in Technical Studies (BATS) program at William Penn University.

Why should I consider a DMACC Management, Marketing, or Fashion degree?

DMACC has an excellent reputation for providing highly qualified team members in a variety of fields. Our programs provide students a well-rounded experience in a tight-knit department community. You have the opportunity to connect with peers and faculty through program clubs, community involvement and field study trips to places like Minneapolis, Kansas City, Chicago, Los Angeles and New York.

Is an internship required as part of my program?

The Management and Marketing AAS degree includes one summer internship. The Fashion AAS degrees include one summer internship and one internship during the spring. Internships provide our students great hands-on experience to coincide with classroom learning. They also contribute to enhanced career experiences and skill development for post-graduate career success.

Can I transfer to a four-year school with an AAS degree?

​​YES! You can definitely transfer to a four-year college or university with any of our AAS degrees. We have several formal articulation agreements with local private institutions as well as a strong relationships with our state universities, which allow for a smooth transition from our programs into a bachelor program of study.

Can I earn a certificate along with my AAS degree?

YES! All of our certificate courses can also complete AAS degree requirements within the Management, Marketing and Fashion degrees.  This allows for students to have a “specialty” area and to strengthen their education and skills for greater career opportunities. In many cases, a student who works with a faculty advisor early to plan a course of study can complete their certification within our department with just one additional course or two when completing full-time course work.

What qualifications do the faculty members in the Marketing and Management Programs possess?

All full-time faculty in the department hold advanced degrees related to their fields.  Additionally, each faculty member has years of professional or industry experience, which provides for valuable in-class examples related to concepts and terms. Our department also has a strong group of adjunct instructors with great business and industry experience.
