Class Location & Registration
Where are classes held? Can I get a map?
Classes are held in Building 18 at the Ankeny Campus in Ankeny, Iowa. Directions to DMACC Ankney can be found here.
Who do I talk to about registering for a class?
Once you have completed the Admissions required Info Session along with any additional
entry requirements for this academic area, you will be able to register for coursework
once you’ve completed New Student Orientation. If you have questions about your Admissions
status, you may review your status in Banner Self Service or by contacting Admissions
at (515) 965-7337 or (800) 362-2127 Extension 7337.
Class Information
What classes are offered, and what are the pre-requisites?
DMACC currently offers an Associate in Applied Science Degree (AAS) as well as a Certificate
of Specialization and an Advanced Certificate of Specialization in Photography.

Camera & Supplies Information
What kind of digital camera, lens and supplies will I need?
You will need a digital DSLR camera, plus related supplies. Digital cameras with
included zoom lenses in kits such as the Canon Rebel series, Canon 80D, Canon 6D Mark
II, or Canon 5D Mark IV are all accepted along with Nikon D5600, Nikon D750, Nikon
D610, or the Nikon D850, are excellent buys.
Will I need any software?
All software is provided in the lab. If you wish to purchase software for home, you
can buy it at a 50% discount as a student at the DMACC Bookstore.
About Our Facilities
What type of facilities do you have?
We have spacious and well-equipped facilities for digital photography. Our facility
has three studios and three classrooms for students to use.
Our digital classrooms have 20 iMac color-managed workstations and are custom built
computers for our photography and video needs. We also have an equipment locker full
of lenses, cameras, tripods, and studio lights for student to check out and use on
assignments. We also have top of the line Canon printers for students to use.
