Chef Logan Lumley
Meet the Staff
Logan Lumley, Executive Chef, Professor
Chef Logan Lumley started his culinary journey by attending the Iowa Culinary Institute after multiple college major changes left him wanting more. Growing up in a household where food always brought people together, Logan knew that cooking was his true calling. He got his first job in the industry at The Café in Ames. Logan quickly climbed the ranks, and was soon supervising the nighttime cooking crew. While working at The Café, Logan fell in love with the farm-to-table type cuisine and made from scratch attitude. While in school he was fortunate enough to win the Marge Anderson Scholarship that allowed him to go to France for a month and study under some amazing Chefs.
Upon leaving the ici® Chef Lumley was offered the opportunity to be the Executive Retail Chef at the Ankeny Prairie Trial Hy-Vee. Being the Chef for a major retail grocery chain allowed Logan to do a number of different things. From many different wine and food pairing menus, to putting on cooking classes, and even on-stage cooking demonstrations.
Logan soon came back to DMACC to be a Sous Chef for the Gourmet Dinners, which then turned into becoming an Adjunct Professor, and finally a full time Chef Instructor.
When Logan’s not in the kitchen he very much enjoys spending time with his wife, traveling, and visiting as many breweries as he can.
