About the DAT Staged Reading Series

These two contemporary plays are exciting new works that we think will entertain and engage you. Each is being presented as a staged reading -- in other words, the actors have been rehearsing in order to tell a clear and interesting story, but the dialogue is not memorized and the design features are minimal.​

Bios for Both Productions

Lauryn Brown (HULDEY, The Moors) is very excited to be part of their first DMACC play, and their first drama production since high school. They were part of many productions in their high school (a total of five shows, including Alice in Wonderland and Seussical), but are most proud of the one they earned in the one-act play 'Emil, You're Going to be a Dog' at a speech competition. They are looking forward to being a part of more DMACC productions during their next two years of DMACC.

Hailey Gentz (EMILY, The Lifespan of a Fact) is excited to be working on her second show here at DMACC. As a sophomore in spring of 2020, she was cast as Sarah Brown in the musical Guys and Dolls. She has also done a handful of other plays and musicals during her time in high school such as Annie (Duffy), Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (Alice), High Schoolers Guide to the Galaxy (Teacher, Hippy), and Babble (Lucy). Hailey hopes to take her acting to the next step as she heads to Chicago (hopefully), in the next year or so. She would like to thank Adam Horton, her cast mate and friend who also doubles as a teacher, you're the best. Also, thanks to my cat Nova, that's all.

Madison Halliday (A MOOR-HEN, The Moors) is working on her first show at DMACC! Madisons' previous shows include, "WCKY", and "John Lennon and Me". Madison has also earned the award for "Best understudy", as Anne Frank in The Diary of Anne Frank. Madison would like to thank her cast, and Cati for giving her this opportunity.

Adam Horton (JOHN, The Lifespan of a Fact) is elated to be working on some experimental theatre, even in this very weird time. Adam has worked in several plays at DMACC, including The Matchmaker, Love's Labor's Lost, and Fuddy Meers. Adam has also worked with Tallgrass Theatre Company's in their production of Eat Your Heart Out in the Des Moines area. Adam has been nominated for the Irene-Ryan award through KCACTF and nominated for Best Actor at Snake Alley Film Festival and the Iowa Motion Picture Awards, respectively. Adam would like to thank his roommates, Megan, and his family for their endless support.

Rowan Huegerich (JIM, The Lifespan of a Fact) is thrilled to be in their second show at DMACC. During Spring 2020, they played Lauren in Circle Mirror Transformation. He acted in seven shows in high school, including Seussical as Jojo. He hopes to transfer to a university after graduating at DMACC to pursue a degree in vocal performance.

Chyann Johnson (AGATHA, The Moors) is a freshman theatre student at DMACC, working on her first production here, and is very excited to make longtime connections and develop many more skills.

David Korkow (THE MASTIFF, The Moors) has worked on many productions at DMACC but is thrilled to be doing something as new and exciting as this. He plans to continue perusing theatre after DMACC and would like to thank his friends and family for all their support.

Audrey Krukow (EMILIE, The Moors) is excited to do her first staged reading. She worked the sound board for DMACC's production of A Midnight Dreary last fall, and narrated DMACCs Radio Play, Willy Beau Dilly, this summer. In high school, she acted in 6 shows and designed hair and makeup for 2 shows. She also participated in the Iowa High School Speech Association large group and individual contests. She lettered with distinction in drama her senior year of high school. Audrey would like to thank her family and friends for supporting her.

Lisbet Morris (MARJORY, The Moors) is delighted to be working on The Moors this semester! This is her first play with DMACC. She took Acting I last semester and wanted to experience more of the acting field. Libby would like to thank her parents.

Cati Kalinoski (DIRECTOR) is working on her first DMACC production. She is a theatrical director and designer originally from Des Moines, Iowa. She gained her BFA in Drama for production and design and her MA in performances from New York University, and she has worked on production teams in New York City, Chicago, London, and more. Her directing work includes CIDE (MITU580), Circe and Medea (Nine Muses Entertainment), and Crave (NYU). Her lighting and scenic designs have been seen in venues across NYC including Ars Nova, Dixon Place, Robert Moss Theater, National Black Theater, Hudson Guild, Access Theater, Abrons Art Center, 13th Street Reperatory Theater, The Brick, The PIT, Chinatown Soup, and more. In addition to her work on shows, Cati has previously worked for the American Theater Wing who are co-producers for the Tony Awards and Scott Rudin Productions on Broadway research and show development.

Rachel Trimble (PRODUCTION MANAGER, STAGE MANAGER, DESIGNER) graduated from Grand View University where she was involved in every production during her time as a student. Some of her more memorable Grand View credits include Alexander Who's Not...Going to Move (Lighting Design), Clybourne Park (Lighting Design, Scenic Asst.), Miss Nelson Is Missing (Stage Management), Ghost Bike (Persephone, Ensemble), and 'night Mother (Scenic Design) for which she received a National Honorable Mention at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. Rachel works here at DMACC Ankeny Theatre as the Resident Designer, and her credits include Fuddy Meers (Scenic, Properties Design), The Wolves (Scenic, Costume, & Properties Design), Love's Labor's Lost (Costume, Properties Design), A Midnight Dreary (Director, Lighting Design), The Matchmaker (Scenic, Lighting Design), and, most recently, Circle Mirror Transformation, Guys and Dolls, and Willy Beau Dilly.

Krister Strandskov (TECHNICAL DIRECTOR, DESIGNER) moved to Des Moines in 2013, and since then Krister has worked with Grand View University, Whippoorwill Theatre, Stage West, Goldfinch Theater Company, Iowa Stage Theater Company, and DMACC Ankeny Theatre in a variety of roles both on and off stage. Some of these productions include Our Country's Good (Foley Artist, Musician), 7/11 Theatre Project Back to Nature (Master Carpenter), Make Believe (Actor, Carpenter, Photographer), The Christians (Choral Ensemble), Ghost Bike (Carpenter, Photographer), Fuddy Meers (Technical Director), The Wolves (Technical Director), A Midnight Dreary (Scenic Design, Sound Design, Technical Direction), The Matchmaker (Technical Director) and is fresh off of productions of Circle Mirror Transformation, Guys and Dolls, and Willy Beau Dilly. Krister feels honored to have been part of the last several productions at DMACC and is looking forward to the 2020-2021 season.

Carl Lindberg (PRODUCER, Program Chair) is excited to be working on his fifteenth production at DMACC. Prior to his arrival in the Des Moines metro area, Carl worked as an actor on major Chicago stages (Lookingglass, Remy Bumppo, Buffalo Theatre Ensemble, Oak Park Festival Theatre, About Face, Windy City Players, and many more), on camera in a handful of commercial​s, short films, and an Onion video, and directed and designed productions in Chicago, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and California. Locally, Carl is represented by the Peak Agency and he is incredibly proud to serve as an Adjudicator for IHSMTA, an All State Critic for IHSSA, to represent Pyramid Theatre Company as a board member, and to have performed at Tallgrass (Stop Kiss). Carl has an MFA in Directing from Western Illinois University, a BA in Acting from CSU Stanislaus, and has trained with ensemble members from Steppenwolf, The Second City, and Shakespeare & Co.
